Our Story.
Blooms Early Learning opened in 2000 as one of only seven Intergenerational Child Care Centres in the world. Located within the Mont St. Joseph Long Term Care Home (MSJ), we entered the home to support the Eden Alternative by operating an Intergenerational Childcare Centre where children were integrated into the daily lives of the residents at MSJ. This partnership was like no other and gave Blooms its formative start.
The life lessons the children learned growing up in this environment were priceless. We have seen benefits for children, residents, and staff in the building; growing relationships and learning life lessons while embracing the art of compassion and empathy. The integration of children into the lives of residents became a cornerstone of Blooms, enriching everyone’s lives with valuable lessons in compassion, empathy, and connection.
In 2020, we expanded our vision by partnering with Saskatchewan Rivers School Division to open our second location at Arthur Pechey School. This new initiative introduced our early learning programs within a school setting, reinforcing our belief that early education and school communities should work hand-in-hand. Children who thrive in an environment from 12 months to grade 8 build lasting friendships, develop a sense of belonging, and gain the self-esteem that sets the foundation for future learning success.
